What we do:
The Cedars is a small CQC registered residential care home in Clacton-on-Sea for up to twelve people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and, sometimes, early onset dementia.
With the seafront only 200 yards away, we offer a warm, homely and caring environment to support people with their day-to-day living in safety and comfort. The building has recently been refurbished and it feels luxurious and stylish.
Many of the residents who live at The Cedars are referred to us due to their complex needs. We work closely with our Local Authority and placements team to provide a step-down pathway from hospital or to take care of people who can no longer live safely at home with our provision of supported living.
We offer:
- Short-term placements or respite
- Long-term placements
Care and activities
Our team is highly skilled in meeting the individual needs of the residents. We work in partnership with each person, their families and loved ones to build a care and activity plan.
Our aim is to enable residents to enjoy meaningful activities each day, to be empowered to make decisions and to have their voices heard. Residents can prepare their own breakfast, make drinks, enjoy the home’s wide range of daily activities and be supported with their independence.
The range of 1:1 and group activities we offer is led by residents’ interests and hobbies, and we organise a variety of social outings.
We also ensure as much as possible that people keep in touch with family and the wider community.
The Cedars is in Clacton-on-Sea – a special home with a wonderfully caring and consistent staff team, many of whom have been with us for years. The building has a warm and welcoming feel, and our residents live together safely as part of a community.
Environment
The single bedrooms all have toilet ensuite facilities, and in addition, there are two accessible bathrooms. There is a large TV lounge, and a lift to ensure all areas of the home are accessible. Our beautiful, enclosed gardens and patio area are great spaces for people to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine in safety.
On admission
Settling into a new home can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. We warmly welcome new residents and make sure they settle in, spending lots of time together to get to know their needs and wishes, likes and dislikes.
