Abbots Grange is a supported living environment which is made up of 11 rooms all differentiating between a self-contained flat, sole rooms and rooms with cooking facilities and bathrooms. There are two communal kitchens one of which has a communal living area with smart TV and gaming console for group activities, two communal showers and three communal toilets. There is also a newly refurbished garden in which clients enjoy spending their time and excellent for group social inclusion. Abbots Grange is situated in an ideal location, with a ten minute walk into the centre of Chester and in a close proximity to local smaller shops, there are excellent travel links such as the Chester bus station and the Chester train station both of which are a ten minute walk away; Abbots Grange also has close links to local resource centres where clients can go and interact with others to benefit from building therapeutic relationships. Clients feel as though they can get around easily and are not confined to one area.
Abbots Grange is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week with multiple staff on during the day and one member of staff staying over-night to meet the requirements of clients, we support a range of clients who have complex mental health needs. Staff work with clients to promote maximum independence with the end goal of the clients moving into the community, while supporting them with individual needs/ daily tasks such as: cleaning, shopping, cooking, finance and promoting a high level of personal hygiene.
Here at Abbots Grange we offer clients 1-1 time with staff where they engage in an activity of their choice, utilise emotional support. Abbots Grange staff engage in group activities with all clients to promote social inclusion such as: bingo, quiz nights, day trips and more; They also promote healthy meal choice when preparing group meal with clients.
Kerry Walters has worked for solutions in service for 6 years, started off as a bank support worker and has now been the manager of Abbots Grange for 5 years. Kerry has work in the mental health sector for 18 years. Starting off in MHA services then moving on to work for reablement team within the social services. Kerry has completed her NVQ level 5 in leadership and management skills. Kerry is enthusiastic, encouraging and motivating towards both clients and staff she dedicates her time to SIS and the efficient running of Abbots Grange with is a commendable attribute to uphold.
